Young Arts Projects are arts-related activities sponsored or organised by the local branches of The Arts Society.

Our Society continues to support the Beth Chatto Education Trust.  In April we funded a fanstastic day of free-form art at the Beth Chatto gardens.  Thirteen 10-16-year-olds, guided by local artsist Jevan Watkins-Jones, used materials from our funded Art Box and plenty of natural, foraged materials from the gardens and produced some high-quality work.

We will be supporting a second free drop-in art session in November.  A great opportunity for all the family to join in and make a giant colourful garden scene with cut printed paper.  This activity is part of the National Big Draw and will be led by Jevan Watkins-Jones.

This summer our committee had the opportunity to view impressive pieces of A Level art work at Colchester Royal Grammar School, Colchester County High School for Girls and Colchester Sixth Form College.  We have selected two outstanding pieces to be entered in the RBA Rising Stars 2020 competition.

We will also be making six Awards for Artistic Excellence from The Arts Society North East Essex.  We hope that some of the students will be able to attend the awards presentation during our 25th anniversary lecture at firstsite, Colchester, to be held on 19th September.
